A Long Update
12 years ago today, Shawn asked me to marry him. I’m so glad I said “yes”!
Lydia, Shawn and I were all sick last week; Lydia especially. She ran a fever for a couple of days and then started coughing. She was coughing so much one day at school that she threw up during lunch (gross, huh?). So I brought her home and early and kept her home the next day too. Friday was an early release day for the girls so I sent Lydia to school so she could take her spelling test and then after school I put them to work cleaning the house. After being sick all week the house was just cluttery and needed a good clean. It was a beautiful day, so we opened some windows to let in the fresh air, then cleaned top to bottom. I even started my spring cleaning and washed all the bedding and family room quilts. We switched out the flannel sheets for cotton ones, even though there will still probably be some cold nights and snowy days. We were also cleaning because my parents were coming. There is no motivation like company coming for a good house-cleaning.
Mom and Dad got to our house around 9:30 Friday night. We had already put the kids to bed but we visited for awhile and mom peeked in at the girls. Saturday we did 6 or 7 geo-caches on the road to Rexburg. We stopped at Bear World and had our picture taken with a baby bear cub. The park wasn’t open yet but they were taking pictures since the bears were just coming out of hibernation. There was a boy and girl cub and they are so cute and little! We walked around the Rexburg temple grounds and had lunch at a fun place called Hard Hat with a construction theme and meals in buckets. We were all enthralled with the bathrooms – they had signs like “Toxic Waste Dump Site” and “No alligators swimming in the water”. It was pretty fun. We also went to a city park in here in town for one last geo-cache and then we all played on the new equal access playground. They had musical toys and a “Sway Fun” boat type toy that we could all sit in and rock. It was “Sway Fun.” After grilling hamburgers, we played a few rounds of Zingo! and dominoes.
Sunday, Lydia was still coughing (and gagging), so dad offered to stay home from church with her. He says he has been “banking” church for awhile now, so he didn’t mind staying home. They had “Star Wars” church while the rest of us went to regular church. Star Wars was on T.V., so clearly that lent itself to a discussion of good triumphing over evil :)
Monday morning I took Lydia to the doctor and she was diagnosed with pneumonia. She is on an antibiotic now and will miss at least 2 days of school this week. We are just hanging out at home and taking advantage of the new RedBox at the Walgreen’s just down the street. She has been keeping up with her school work and is crafting/scrapbooking right now. I am working on some vinyl signs for Shawn’s office – working from home today :)

Valentine Clearance
I didn't take any pictures before I packed it all away, but I totally caved to the Valentine's clearance items at Albertsons today. They were 90% off - how could I not? So, my total (with some groceries) was around $38 and I saved over $180 - even Shawn was impressed. It didn't hurt that some of that was chocolate in heart-shaped boxes - he likes chocolate as much, if not more, than I do! I also got cute gift bags, napkins, tealight candles, votive holders, picture frames, note pads, HSM and Hannah Montana tins, several boxes of valentines and other decor items and small treats.
